US home mortgages fell last week
Applications for U.S. residential mortgages fell last week, with requests for loans to purchase a home down for the first time in a month despite relatively steady interest rates, an industry group said on Wednesday.
The Mortgage Bankers Association said its seasonally adjusted index of mortgage applications — which includes both purchase and refinancing loans — fell 0.7 percent to 756.2 in the week ended Aug. 19. In the previous week, the index rose 2.2 percent.
