U.S. mortgage rates edge up; 30-year at 6.24%
Mortgage rates were little changed in the latest week, with the national average rate on the benchmark 30-year loan inching higher to 6.24% from 6.23% a week ago, Freddie Mac said Thursday.
The average for the 15-year mortgage, a popular refinancing choice, also edged up to 5.83% from 5.81% last week, Freddie Mac’s weekly survey showed. A year ago the 30-year mortgage averaged 5.57% while the 15-year stood at 5.1%.
Five-year Treasury-indexed hybrid adjustable-rate mortgages averaged 5.89% this week versus 5.87% a week ago. A year ago, the five-year ARM averaged 4.99%.
